Gone are the days when you needed a graphic designer to edit your videos. Why am I saying this? The CapCut app has come up with easy ways to upscale green-screen videos!

Many beginners in video content creation may be unaware of how to use this app correctly to edit such green-screen videos. You might be missing out on many wonders this app can do. That’s why I have created this in-depth guide for methods to edit such videos using CapCut. Let us move ahead to know more about it! (To use this feature on mobile, you can use our Capcut APK file)

Step-by-Step Guide To Use Green Screen With CapCut:

First, download the CapCut app on your desktop or mobile (if you haven’t yet.) You can edit green-screen videos in two different ways:
1. With the help of Chroma Key
2. Using Auto Removal

1. Steps To Use Green Screen In CapCut’s Chroma Key:

You can remove the green background and add a new one within seconds using Chroma Key! Let’s learn to edit green-screen videos with the Chroma key in three easy steps.

Step 1: Upload the Pre-recorded Video
Go to the ‘Import’ button and upload the pre-recorded green screen video.

Once you import the video, select and drag it to the timeline.

Go to the ‘Library’ and select the ‘background’ option. You can choose free background templates from this section (shown in the image below).

Or you can upload another video of the background using the ‘Import’ option.

Step 2: Edit The Overlay
I have downloaded a free video from CapCut’s Library to use as a background.

Keep the main green-screen video (Overlay) to the upper track and the background video on the lower track of the timeline. You can adjust the position, rotation, and scale from the small editor section in the top right corner.

Here comes the main editing part:
Select the green screen video and go to the ‘Video’ option in the top-right corner. You may find options like ‘Remove BG’ or ‘Cutout’(depending on your app’s version).

Select the Chroma Key option and click on the color picker.

Move the color pin to green color in the main green-screen footage. The background of the green-screen footage will change to the second layer (shown below in the sample image).

If you want to add music, text, stickers, etc., in the video for further editing, you can use the tab in the upper left corner. For e.g. I have added stickers and music of a ‘cat meowing’ from the CapCut’s library.

Step 3: Export
Once done with all the editing, click on the blue ‘Export’ button in the top-right area. Adjust the cover image, resolution, frame rate, format, etc., according to your requirements. And export the video as shown below.

2. Instructions For Using Green Screen In CapCut with Auto Removal

Step 1: Import Video
Click on the ‘Import’ button to upload the green screen video from your PC.

Or else, for a trial, you can use free ‘Green Screen’ videos in the ‘Library’ section on the left part (as shown in the image below).

Step 2: Edit The Layers
Add the Background Video from the Library section on the left.

Move the main green screen footage to the upper track and the background video to the lower track.

Adjust the length of the background video to equal the main video.

Now, select the green screen video and choose the ‘Tracking’ option from the top-right corner. Choose the ‘Motion Tracking’ feature. This will help to keep the main ‘Subject’ as the centrepiece.

Now, go to the ‘Video’ tab and click ‘Remove BG’ for the main green screen video. Choose the ‘Auto Removal’ option. In a few seconds, the green background will automatically get removed and our uploaded background will appear in the video.

You can further enhance your video by adding filters, effects, and animations in the footage using the given editing tabs.

Step 3: Export:
Simply click the ‘Export’ button on the top right and choose the ideal video resolution, size, etc., as required.
